MLB.COM "Seattle is interested in KBO star Kim Hye-sung..."I need a second baseman"

MLB.COM, the website of the Major League, has selected the Seattle Mariners as a candidate for Kim Hye-sung (25) of the Kiwoom Heroes. Kim, who finished the 2024 season, is aiming to enter the U.S. through a posting system (closed competitive bidding).안전놀이터

"Seattle is connected to a KBO League star," MLB.COM reported on the 7th (Korea time), "The Mariners are one of the teams interested in him. We are looking for the second baseman first in the offseason. The club may be able to find the answer to that position overseas."

Kim Hye-sung, who joined Nexen in 2017 and played only one team for eight seasons, hit .304 with 37 home runs, 386 RBIs and an OPS of 0.767 in 953 games.

This year, he played in 127 games and posted a batting average of 0.326, 11 homers, 75 RBIs, and 0.841 OPS. He posted a batting average of .300 for four consecutive seasons.

The big league's interest in Kim Hye-sung continued throughout this season. Major league scouts watched Kim Hye-sung's play every time there was a game, including Gocheok, Kiwoom's home stadium.

MLB.COM explained, "Seattle is one of the clubs that closely evaluated Kim Hye-sung playing for Kiwoom."

"Kim Hye-sung, 25, has a batting average of 0.304 during his eight seasons in the KBO," the media said. "He has a batting average of 0.331 and 55 stolen bases during the past two seasons. He also keeps his defense."

Kim Hye-sung, who is on a schedule such as basic military training, has not officially posted yet, but is certain to try to advance to MLB.

MLB.COM reported, "The club (Kium) has not posted him yet, so we cannot negotiate with the MLB team, but it is expected to be this offseason," adding, "MLB.COM reporter John Morosi said that the Boston Red Sox, San Francisco Giants, and Los Angeles Angels, who need second baseman, may also want Kim Hye-sung."

Kim also received attention in the MLB Seoul Series held in Korea earlier this year. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts, who played a practice game with a Korean team, once said, "Our scouts like Kim Hye-sung."

Seattle, which belongs to the American League West, has 85 wins and 77 losses this year, ranking second in its group after the Houston Astros (88 wins and 73 losses). The team failed to advance to the post season after losing ground in the wild card competition.

In the past, Japanese star Ichiro Suzuki played in Seattle, and among Korean players, Choo Shin-soo and Lee Dae-ho played in Seattle uniforms.
